NotesIn 1921, the Pacific Coast canned salmon industry collapsed. Lower postwar demand, depressed salmon runs, abundant supply from the previous year and costs of outfitting canneries caused many canneries to close. β€œThe total output was considerably less than half that of the record season of four years before, and much the smallest since 1910” (p.35). Only two canneries operated on the Oregon Coast. This article can be read in Google Books.
